NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was in Berlin yesterday to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel one more time before she retires, and to address the German Atlantic Association “NATO Talk” Conference 2021. During that speech he suggested, apparently in response to an audience question, that should the German government that’s expected to replace that of Merkel decide to opt out of NATO’s nuclear sharing program, then the estimated 20 B61 nuclear gravity bombs that are currently stored at the German Büchel air base could be moved to another country—closer to Russia. “Of course, it’s up to Germany to decide whether the nuclear arms will be deployed in this country, but there’s an alternative to this; the nuclear arms may easily end up in other European countries, including those to the east of Germany,” he said.

Was last night’s eclipse of the Moon Nature’s way of characterizing the monumental failure of the lunatics gathered at the recently-deceased COP 26 Conference?

Following the failure of the Royal Family and the billionaires at COP 26 to force "voluntary" agreements to commit energy suicide by banning coal and other fossil fuels, the Schiller Institute laid out the means for reversing the descent into a new dark age, through LaRouche's Four Laws and a New Bretton Woods. Then on Tuesday, several western leaders, rather suddenly, initiated extremely important efforts to defuse the war danger, on the Poland-Belarus border, the Ukraine crisis, and the Taiwan crisis. Calls between:  Putin-Xi, Putin-Macron, Merkel-Lukashenko ensued. Can we bring the world to safety?

The contrast between the flop of the Malthusians with the failure of their "climate summit", and the successful deliberation at the 2-day Schiller Institute conference demonstrates that there is an urgency in breaking with the present paradigm, and achieving cooperation among all leading nations. The dividing line is between Trans-Atlantic nations sticking with neoliberal, colonial policies, and geopolitical provocations, and those nations committed to cooperation for economic development. Helga developed this contrast, as it exists regarding all major crises, from addressing the humanitarian disaster facing Afghanistan; the crisis at the Poland-Belarus border; the COVID pandemic, which is surging through Europe; and dealing with hyperinflation, caused by the decision to bailout bankrupt corporations, rather than invest in developing new manufacturing centers at the frontiers of science. She called on viewers to join the Schiller Institute, at a moment when historical decisions are being made. The changes we have proposed will work; but, if these changes do not take place, the West will collapse, due to moral bankruptcy.

History making is a creative act. The civilization which survives and progresses is that which decides to break from the follies of the controlling modes of behavior which lead them toward their chosen doom, and adopt instead a new mode of thinking and acting which is in coherence with the laws of the known universe. As seen in the action of discovery of the scientist or artist, this act of leadership is not something limited to an “elite” or “chosen class”; as the founding of the American republic asserted, statecraft is a task, a duty, of the creative mind which lies, in potential, inside every human being, every citizen.
